If Pres Bush Reinstituted the Draft What Excuses Would the Armchair Warriors Have to Ignore It?

2. Why do armchair generals have a tendency of completely dismissing the importance of logistics in a military? Do they not realize that a military is useless without food/water or ammo?

Because the service side of the military is nowhere near as sexy or exciting as the combat arms side. There is a very old adage that an army marches on its stomach. In modern times, it takes much more than that. The beans, bullets and bandaids are just the start. Add to that comms/crypto, bulk fuel, MPs for checkpoint security and battlefield circulation control so the motor-t guys turn the right way to get all the crap where it needs to go, instead of wandering lost in bad-guy land and into an ambush. Add to that all the folks that maintain and repair the massive quantity and variety of vehicles and gear that have become so integral to modern combat.

3. As an armchair General, would you have disobeyed Hitler and broke out of Stalingrad in second half of 1942?

No way. Probably the best of German generals, Manstein, argued strongly against a breakout. He pointed out that 6th army tied down massive soviet forces surrounding it near the volga. If it broke out, the soviet armies would be released and might head for Rostov on the Don, trapping army group A as well as B, and leading to loss of the war. Under the circumstances the only option was relief, but it failed. Sixth was lost but Manstein still managed to prevent a greater disaster. Had I been Paulus, I would not have tried to break out.

4. Why do "ready rooms" on aircraft carriers have armchair styled seats like you'd find on an airliner?

Because pwecious widdle aviators need every creature comfort they can get. They whine otherwise. A lot.

Do you know anyone that does upholstery?..they are very knowledgeable about furniture and could steer you in the right direction. I would check around and find someone in that dept. That would be the lowest cost to have it done. Hope you find it! Check with antique stores as well...my friend found one just like this one for 50 dollars.

7. To all you armchair economists out there, what is the biggest mistake our country made, economically speaking?

Well you pretty much took the words from my mouth. I would add fractional reserves and interest, but I have to say the biggest mistake is keynesian ideologies taught in schools and regurgitated in college. Note: I see a lot of you advocate keynesian ideas and think you can pay back interest, but you can not . Interest is money that does not exist. To pay back all debt would mean a collapse in the money supply if no one kept borrowing back from the banks assuming you did not have to pay interest of course.

we must make every attempt to talk to them . when we dont they only know one side of the story.we must confront islam and all religion. enough is enough

he was the first president of USA that ruled his nation according to new rules. these rules mean that politician can actually say things that they do not believe in. it is called political spin. by bringing spin to america he has done a massive damage to america for centuries to come.

Patton was a Lieutenant General (and later General) when he was an Army Commander. Even at my current rank and with 23 years of service I have never even met the Lieutenant General or General that falls in my chain of command. So for me it would not make any difference.
